What does our "NO CANDY" Policy mean:
For safety reasons, The Optimist Club of St Thomas implemented a NO CANDY policy for the St Thomas Santa Claus Parade so as to ensure that such a tragedy, that occurred in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, does not occur in our St Thomas Parade.
This means that no entry will be permitted to distribute anything during the parade. This means NO candy, No food, No drinks, NO promotional materials, NO flyers, NO pens, NO business cards, NO nothing. Failure to comply has and will result in expulsion from the this and future parades. This is a requirement for insurance and is a standard policy for the traditional parade format. We greatly appreciate all ideas you may have about handing out items, but it's just not possible.
We hope that you will understand and support our decision.
